Dan Fierman
Veteran media executive Dan Fierman oversees all audio projects for Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions. Under Fierman’s leadership, Higher Ground has released a diverse array of podcasts, which have resonated with global audiences, including The Michelle Obama Podcast; Renegades: Born in the USA, a series of conversations between President Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen which was adapted into a bestselling book; The Big Hit Show, a series of audio documentaries hosted by Alex Pappademas, dissecting popular culture phenomenon that have defined and changed our culture; Tell Them, I Am, a collection of universal stories from Muslim voices; The Sum of Us podcast, based on Heather McGhee’s New York Times bestseller, The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together; Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast, which features Michelle Obama sharing tools for living in today’s world with her trademark humor, candor, and compassion; and Your Mama’s Kitchen: Conversations from the Heart of the Home, an Audible Original where acclaimed journalist Michele Norris and guests explore the complexities of family life and how their earliest culinary experiences helped shape their personal and professional lives.
Prior to joining Higher Ground, Fierman was president of Epic Media in Los Angeles, helping to guide the rapidly growing media start-up to acquisition by Vox Media in 2019. Over the course of his career, he oversaw culture and special packages at GQ, was the Editorial Director of the groundbreaking sports and pop culture site Grantland, and led news coverage at MTV, where he oversaw all linear, digital, and social coverage of the 2016 election. Fierman is based in Los Angeles, California.
