Anneka is a broadcaster, painter, and, more recently, a stand-up comedian.  She started her career on a 2-year BBC training course and worked for The World Service. A two-year stint in Hong Kong followed where she presented the evening news on TVB, and produced a weekly drive-time show for RTHK. 

She shot to fame in the UK as the Sky-Runner on Channel 4’s “Treasure Hunt” and in 1989 devised the award-winning “Challenge Anneka” for BBC-l . Over 35 years she has completed 75 projects around the world.  The format has also been sold to many other territories, so the reach of the show is truly global.

Her Radio 4 work includes In the Life Drawing Class, Loose Ends, Where’s the F in News, A Good Read, My Teenage Diary, Your Place or Mine, and Fortunately. A highlight was playing herself in The Archers over several episodes when the residents of Ambridge challenged Anneka to renovate their village hall in 1993. She was then invited back again by Lynda Snell to supervise some touch-ups, 20 years later! 

Her stand-up comedy started with The Clemmie Hart Years, about her life as her own secret agent, recorded at the Backyard Comedy Club for Radio 4. There followed Help! My Head’s in Wookey Hole, a frantic search for her missing Madame Tussauds’ waxwork head, and more recently Anneka has Issues, dissecting death and other cheerful subjects.

Radio 2 work includes the Saturday Breakfast Show, Pick of the Week, Friday Night is Music Night, The Arts Show, Sunday Love Songs, Anneka on Sunday and  Junior Choice, which she presents live on Xmas Day.  Documentaries include Paint it Black with Ronnie Wood, a two-hour odyssey through Ronnie’s painting and musical life. 

She paints with celebrated artist Maggi Hambling and is part of her renowned Master Class.  She is obsessed with The Banksy Story.
