Sue Mitchell

Co-Producer & Presenter, Intrigue: Million Dollar Lover

Sue Mitchell is a BBC journalist behind last year’s award winning podcast, ‘Million Dollar Lover’, which documents an unlikely love affair between a wealthy widow, Carolyn, who is 80 and Dave, 57, a former drug addict who is homeless. The story unfolds on the street where Sue lives and is recorded it in real time. She is part of BBC Studio’s Narrative Factual team and has made a number of programmes on asylum seekers coming to Britain, including ‘Girl Taken’ and the Arias award winning series, ‘The Smuggler’s Trail’. Last month she produced/presented ‘To Catch a Scorpion’, which detailed a real time search alongside former soldier Rob Lawrie, to track down one of Europe’s most wanted people smugglers.

Before joining the BBC, Sue was a journalist at the Yorkshire Post. She is on the board of an international organisation helping improve access to programme making skills in marginalised communities and is also involved in mentoring schemes to help young journalists.
